How a Tattoo Artist Built a Global Software Brand: The Story of Sandy Verfaille and Tattoogenda

Imagine running a busy tattoo studio with 15 artists and multiple locations. Now imagine trying to keep everything organized – bookings, payments, customer follow-ups, and more—without a proper system.

That’s the challenge Sandy Verfaille, founder of Inksane Tattoo Studios, faced every day. But instead of waiting for a solution, she built his own. And today, that solution – Tattoogenda is helping tattoo studios around the world run their businesses better.

This is Sandy’s story. A story of creativity, problem-solving, and building something that others now rely on.

️️️Starting with a Real Problem

Sandy didn’t set out to become a software founder. She was a tattoo artist first. But as his studio grew—from one artist to fifteen, from one location to multiple—she hit a wall.

No software in the market could handle the day-to-day needs of a tattoo business. So Sandy, who also happens to have a degree in software engineering, decided to build it himself.

We built everything in-house from scratch. First for ourselves, then later we opened it up to others” she shared during our call.

This became the start of Tattoogenda, a complete tattoo studio management system built by someone who understands exactly what studio owners need.

💻 What is Tattoogenda?

Tattoogenda is a SaaS (Software as a Service) product designed to help tattoo studios manage their operations. It includes:

  • Online appointment booking
  • Payment system integration (POS + pin terminals)
  • Automated email follow-ups
  • Client review requests
  • Built-in video tutorials to help users understand features

The system is mostly focused on operations, helping studios run smoothly after the client
books a session.

And yes—it’s used by studios not just in Belgium (where Sandy is based) but also in places like Puerto Rico and the United States. It’s truly a global solution.

📈 Getting First Customers

Sandy and his team started building Tattoogenda around three years ago. But the software was only opened to other studios less than a year ago. At first, they used it only for their own business. Once it became stable and full of helpful features, they decided to launch it for others.

So how did the first users find Tattoogenda?

  • Mostly through Google Search (SEO)
  • Sometimes, even ChatGPT recommends it (yup!)
  • And now, through one U.S.-based affiliate partner
  • Plus, they’re testing some email marketing and social media

Even without a big team or marketing budget, Tattoogenda is growing because the product
solves a real need.

People find us through SEO, they land on our site, and then they sign up,” Sandy explained. “Inside the app, we have YouTube tutorials to help them use the product.

🤖 Adding AI & Staying Lean

Right now, Sandy is also adding a light AI feature that lets tattoo studios send automated, smart emails to their customers using Tattoogenda.

The team is small but efficient:

  • Sandy leads product and vision
  • One external developer supports engineering
  • One part-time marketer works across two of Sandy’s companies

This lean structure keeps the business flexible and focused.

💡 Advice for Other Founders

When asked what advice she would give to new startup founders, Sandy kept it real.

“Software is never finished,” she said. “We thought we’d be done in a year, but there’s always something more to build.”

She also shared a valuable lesson:

“If you’re not your own customer, start by testing your idea first. Don’t build the product too early. Make sure people actually need it.”

She admits that Tattoogenda took a different route because they were their own customer. But if he starts a new business in the future, he would test the market first.

📣 Marketing Tips That Work

Sandy keeps it simple when it comes to marketing. Her top tips?

  • Build a personal brand
  • Use SEO if your market is not too competitive
  • Don’t rely only on social media if it doesn’t feel right
  • Keep showing up with value—whether that’s through helpful videos, smart features, or
    real support

She believes that even small, honest efforts go a long way – especially when you care about your product.

🌍 What Makes Tattoogenda Special?

It’s not just software—it’s software made by someone who lives and breathes the tattoo world. That’s what makes Tattoogenda stand out.

And even better? It works for any tattoo studio, anywhere in the world.

No complex setup. No big training needed. Just a simple, powerful system that helps artists
focus on what they do best—creating great tattoos.
