Michael Berrada didn’t start his career in real estate. In fact, he spent years building software, managing cloud systems, and working on large tech projects. But over time, he saw a big problem: when disaster struck, entire systems would break down-insurance companies, banks, even governments. Everything was connected, and everything failed together.
That’s when Michael realized something had to change. Technology alone couldn’t fix these problems. The real solution had to be physical, visible, and long-lasting. That was the start of his new journey.
Today, Michael is the Chief Strategy Officer of Future Habitats, a company that transforms old, unused commercial buildings into green, smart, and affordable communities.
Think of an old bank, a former factory, or a big office building that no one uses anymore. Most people see these as dead spaces. Michael sees them as opportunities.
With the help of modular construction, solar energy, hydroponics, and smart technology, Future Habitats turns empty buildings into places where people can live, work, and grow. Their goal To help people own homes, find local jobs, and live in sustainable environments.
One of their latest projects involves preparing cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the U.S. With millions of people expected to visit, cities need new housing. Future Habitats is stepping in to create temporary and long-term living spaces that are ready for the future.
Michael and his team use smart data to choose the right buildings. Their systems track:
Then they reach out to property owners, form partnerships with local workers, and bring in vendors who build with eco-friendly and upgradable materials.
They also work with governments, unions, and local groups to make sure each project supports both the economy and the environment. In some projects, residents can even own their homes and work nearby, creating a full-circle solution.
Michael’s background in tech still plays a big role in his work. Early in his career, he worked in cybersecurity, ERP systems, and cloud software. He helped companies across the U.S. and Middle East use technology to build faster, smarter systems.
But through that work, he saw a deeper issue. Big systems were fragile. One natural disaster could destroy not just buildings but entire economies. That realization changed how he saw value.
In his words: “Wood is cheap on Earth. But on Mars, you can’t find trees. So is it really cheap, or just taken for granted?“
For Michael, sustainability isn’t just about saving energy. It’s about rethinking materials, pricing, and purpose.
One of the biggest insights Michael shares is about labor and pricing. In construction, different types of workers charge different rates. A framer might cost $15/hour. A finish carpenter could charge $200/hour.
In tech, we often treat all developers the same. But now, with AI, the most expensive roles-like senior developers-are being replaced by machines. Meanwhile, the basic tasks still need human hands. This shift is forcing the tech world to rethink its value chain.
“AI is the finish carpenter,” Michael says. “But now the framer is the one in demand.”
This idea of modular value and smart resource use is at the heart of everything Future Habitats does.
The spaces Michael helps build are more than just apartments or offices. They’re ecosystems. Each building has smart walls, clean energy, green tech, and even community businesses built inside.
They use local labor. They support local economies. And they teach others how to build the same way.
In fact, Michael says the training team at Future Habitats is now bigger than the sales team. That’s how committed they are to scaling this movement in a sustainable way.
At Exotto, we help tech founders and IT entrepreneurs like Michael who are building world-changing solutions but need help scaling client acquisition.
Michael’s business runs more on partnerships and contracts than typical lead generation. But many other startups need a system to get in front of the right clients fast.
That’s where we come in. We build done-for-you client acquisition systems using LinkedIn outreach, AI tools, and engaging content so that founders can focus on their product while we bring in the right conversations.
Whether you’re building with code or with concrete, one thing is clear: you need systems that scale.
And like Michael’s story shows, sometimes solving big problems means mixing tech with heart.
Are you a tech founder trying to scale your product or impact? Let’s talk. We’re building the stories and systems that help you grow.
Helping founders scale with precision, not pressure.
